Passaic County Democrats endorsed Rep. Mikie Sherrill for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination today after a unanimous vote of their screening committee.
“The municipal leaders from across Passaic County are confident that she has the leadership, vision, and integrity to serve as our next Governor,” said the Democratic county chairman, John Currie. “Her track record of delivering for working families, standing up for democratic values, and championing economic growth makes her the right choice to lead New Jersey forward.”
Sherrill has represented part of Passaic County in Congress after winning the 11th district seat in 2018.
Passaic County has 129,376 registered Democrats, about 5.3% of the party’s total statewide registration.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer, whose district has included parts of Passaic County since he ousted seven-term Rep. Scott Garrett (R-Wantage) in 2016, did not participate in today’s screening committees.
Sherrill has won contests in Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Sussex, Middlesex, and Morris, Sweeney has already captured endorsements in Burlington, Atlantic, Cumberland, and Gloucester, and Gottheimer has prevailed in conventions in Bergen and Warren.
