Paramus GOP endorses Ciattarelli in governor’s race

By David Wildstein, November 27 2024 4:24 pm

Paramus Republicans are backing Jack Ciattarelli for governor in next year’s primary election.

Ciattarelli has won the endorsements of Mayor Christopher DiPiazza and all six Republicans on the borough council.

“Paramus residents have had enough of Democrat policies in Trenton that have only made it more and more expensive to live in this state” said DiPiazza. “Jack Ciattarelli is the only candidate for Governor who can win this race and finally deliver real change for the people of New Jersey. Jack has a bold plan to cut property taxes, support small businesses, stand with police, and build an economy that lifts wages and cuts prices. He has our full and complete support.”

Councilwomen Jeanne Weber and Mary Ellen Rizzo and Councilmen Ace Antonio, Robert Kaiser, Alfredo Nadera, and Michael Wilkins also support Ciattarelli.

DiPiazza was elected mayor in 2022, flipping the most from Democrat to Republican for the first time in 20 years.  Democrats have held the mayor’s office since James Tedesco, now the Bergen County Executive, defeated former State Sen. Louis Kosco by ten points in 2002 following the retirement of three-term Republican mayor Clifford Gennarelli.

Ciattarelli won Paramus by 1,043 votes, 56%-44%, against Gov. Phil Murphy in 2021. Murphy carried Paramus by 265 votes, 51%-47%, against Republican Kim Guadagno in 2017.
