Acting Gov. Sheila Oliver directed the state’s flags be lowered to half-mast on Friday in honor of late State Sen. Anthony Bucco.

“Sen. Anthony Bucco was a class act and served the residents of Morris County and New Jersey with dignity and honor,” Oliver said. “He gave over 41 years of public service to his town, district and state. Our sympathies are with his wife, Helene Jane (sic), his son, Assemblyman Anthony Bucco and his family in this difficult time.”

Bucco died of a heart attack on Monday.

He was 81.
