Gubernatorial candidate Bill Spadea is going up on the air tomorrow with a new ad explaining why Republicans should vote for him despite President Donald Trump’s endorsement of rival Jack Ciattarelli.
“Your Support” features Spadea sitting outside, holding a coffee mug, and speaking directly to the camera about the Trump endorsement and reiterating his own support of the president.
Spadea will spend $750,000 to run the ad on cable TV and digital platforms.
Script: “So a Trump endorsement came, and it didn’t go our way. Am I disappointed? Of course I am, because Jack Ciattarelli did more than disagree with the president — he disrespected him. Me? I’ve been a supporter of President Trump since he came down the escalator. Have I called him out for being wrong in the past? Sure. I think he should have fired Fauci and eradicated the deep state in the first term. But I’ve disagreed with him in the past. It’s okay for you to disagree with him now because it’s your support that matters to me.”
Spadea, Ciattarelli, State Sen. Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield), and two others are running in the June 10 GOP primary.
