As first reported by Politico’s Sam Stein and Carly Sitrin this weekend, President Joe Biden will visit New Jersey on Thursday for a fundraiser at Gov. Phil Murphy’s mansion in Middletown. The proceeds from the “million dollar” fundraiser will go towards the Democratic National Committee’s grassroots victory fund.

Murphy, who is independently wealthy from his time at Goldman Sachs and was a major Democratic fundraiser prior to becoming governor, is an ally and friend of the president. Last October, First Lady Jill Biden came to Edison to campaign for Murphy’s re-election, and the president himself visited the state on official business shortly afterwards.

Murphy is also the chairman of the nonpartisan National Governors Association and is soon to take the helm of the Democratic Governors Association, the latter of which is responsible for electing Democratic governors around the country.

According to Politico, the event at the Murphy house will be one of two fundraisers Biden will attend on Thursday; he’ll also appear at a New York City fundraiser hosted by James and Kathryn Murdoch to raise money for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
