First Lady Jill Biden will be in Edison on Friday afternoon to campaign for New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s re-election campaign.
She will take part on a rally at Middlesex County College with Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and local officials, including House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-Long Branch).
The event will begin at 3:30 PM.
This is the second White House surrogate in a week, but the first political event. Vice President Kamala Harris was in Newark and Montclair for an official event.
President Joe Biden has not yet announced if he will campaign for Murphy over the next three weeks.
In a debate last week, Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver said she hoped that the president would come to New Jersey. Jack Ciattarelli’s running mate, former State Sen. Diane Allen, said she wanted Biden to campaign for the Democrats.
Former President Barack Obama will campaign for the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, later this month. Obama has not said that he would campaign for Murphy.
Obama and former President Bill Clinton campaigned for Gov. Jon Corzine in October 2009.
