Gov. Phil Murphy has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on Monday in memory of fourteen-term Assemblyman Jerry Green (D-Plainfield), who passed away last week at age 79.
“I personally wish to thank the hundreds of friends, colleagues, and constituents of Jerry Green who have contacted us recently to express their sorrow at his recent passing,” said State Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-Linden), the Union County Democratic Chairman. “Jerry truly touched so many lives, and it’s incredible to witness this nearly constant outpouring of support. As it states in Jerry’s obituary, his family has arranged for private services.”
Scutari says that a public memorial will be planned in the future.
