Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop issued the following statement today on the departure of George Helmy as Gov. Phil Murphy’s chief of staff:
“George Helmy is a product of Jersey City so we always took special pride in his success and I know that he always had a soft soft for our city. He has helped NJ for sure, and that has been well documented, but he has immeasurably helped Jersey City as well in that he has an innate understanding of both our assets and challenges from his time growing up here. He was always our first and final stop on issues facing our city. Today is a fitting day to say Thank you to him on behalf of all 300,000 of us living in JC and wish him the best of luck in the next chapter.”
