Helmy Departure: Donna Chiera

American Federation of Teachers New Jersey President Donna Chiera issued the following statement today on the departure of George Helmy as Gov. Phil Murphy’s chief of staff:

“Organizationally and personally, I want to thank Chief of Staff George Helmy for always taking the time to listen to the voices of our professional educators and support staff. He shared our commitment to improving the lives of our students, our members and the communities where they live and serve. George’s professionalism, knowledge and ethics, along with his caring personality, are qualities that will make him successful in whatever he decides will be the next chapter of his life. He was the example of a true public servant, and he will be missed.”
