Gottheimer’s new ad focuses on affordability — and Trump

A new ad for Rep. Josh Gottheimer’s bid to become the Democratic nominee for governor of New Jersey focuses on making the state more affordable and slams President Donald Trump’s tariffs – and accuses the president of creating chaos during the first ten weeks of his second term.

In “Crazy,” the ad includes images of Trump and Elon Musk and Gottheimer pledging property tax cuts, rebates for renters, and tax breaks for seniors.

Script: “(Woman #1) Crazy. (Woman #2) Crazy. (Man #1) Crazy.  (Gottheimer) You know what’s crazy? President Trump’s chaos. Insane tariffs jacking up prices –threatening the economy. I’m Democrat Josh Gottheimer. As governor, I’ll be a problem solver. Cutting property taxes by 15%, a rebate for renters, a tax break for seniors, and lower costs — from utility bills to childcare to groceries. I’ll be the lower taxes, lower cost governor, and make your life more affordable. Enough. Crazy. It’s time for common sense.”

“It’s crazy how expensive Jersey has gotten, and Trump’s chaos in Washington has only made it worse,” Gottheimer stated. “Families are getting crushed by the cost of childcare, housing, utility bills, grocery prices, and the highest property taxes in the nation. I’m running to be the ‘Lower Taxes, Lower Costs’ Governor who will make Jersey more affordable. I’ve taken on—and solved—tough problems my whole life, and I’ll do the same as Governor.”

The ad will run on digital platforms and is part of a seven-figure ad buy.
