A new political action committee led by radio personality Bill Spadea has named Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore as its senior advisor.
Elect Common Sense was formed to help candidates who back the political agenda of Spadea, a potential candidate for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 2025.
“We can all see the terrible policies rolling out of Trenton, we feel their effects every day, and we know they are only getting worse,” stated Gilmore. “If we want to turn the tide and reverse the insanity, it means winning elections locally and statewide. Complacency is an enemy of success, so we need all Republicans involved in this fight.”
The board of Elect Common Sense includes a number of supporters of Phil Rizzo’s 2021 campaign, a move that could leave the one-time empiric candidate without some of his financial backers if he decides to run for governor again. Elizabeth Nader will serve as chair of Elect Common Sense, and John Crim, Greg Nardolillo, and Sean Mabrey will serve as advisors to the group.
Spadea’s PAC team also includes Rob Gill, a money manager who contributed to Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop’s re-election campaign, and Guy DiMemmo.
We need to get back to winning again, and no one has more experience winning than George Gilmore. I am proud to have Chairman Gilmore helping us direct strategy and chart our course to victor,” said Spadea. “Our initial team of advisors are all winners with diverse backgrounds and real-world, common-sense experience. I look forward to continuing to grow our team as we elect like-minded candidates in 2023.”
