The National Organization for Women Political Action Committee (NOW PAC) has endorsed Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) for re-election to a second term in Congress.
“Mikie Sherrill is the strong independent voice we need to stand up to bullies when hard-won women’s rights are constantly under attack,” said Anjali Mehrotra, President of the National Organization for Women of New Jersey. “As we continue the fight for equality, we also recognize that having women represent us in Congress is imperative to having our voices heard.”
Sherill, a former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and federal prosecutor, flipped New Jersey’s 11th district House seat in 2018 after 34 years of Republican control.
She is expected to face Republican Rosemary Becchi, a former U.S. Senate Finance Committee tax counsel.
The freshman congresswoman has already won endorsements from the Sierra Club, League of Conservation Voters, National Abortion Rights League, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Giffords, and the Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence.
