Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli is going after Somerset County on Election Day morning, making three stops in his home county.
Somerset, where Ciattarelli started his political career as a 27-year-old Raritan councilman, Somerset County freeholder and three-term assemblyman, has trended Democratic over the last decade.
He needs to flip voters who supported Gov. Phil Murphy four years ago, and Somerset County might be ground zero for the GOP nominee. Joe Biden won Somerset by 20 points last year, and Murphy carried the county by two points in 2017.
Ciattarelli is now at the Randazzo Pastry Shop & Bakery in Raritan, followed by two diner stops in Bridgewater.
