West New York Mayor Felix Roque says he’s backing U.S. Senator Bob Menendez for the-election this fall and will support Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise for another term in 2019.
”I’m 100% for Bob Menendez,” Roque told the New Jersey Globe on Saturday. “And I’ve always liked DeGise.”
Earlier this year, Roque was one of four Hudson County mayors — along with Steven Fulop of Jersey City, Brian Stack of Union City and Ravi Bhalla of Hoboken — who tried to oust DeGise and replace him in 2019. DeGise countered with the election of his daughter, Amy, as the new Hudson County Democratic chair.
Stack and Bhalla are now on Team DeGise, leaving only Fulop on the outside looking in. Fulop continues to threaten a primary challenge to DeGise, but that’s not something Hudson Democrats take seriously anymore.
Roque, who is up for re-election next May, says he’ll focus his efforts on turning out votes for a Menendez and will stay out of the local school board race.
NO ONE CARES, ROQUE! YOURE A LAME DUCK MAYOR. NO ONE LIKES YOU. STOP GIVING THIS GUY AIR TIME. HES A LIAR, YOU CAN FIND THE OPPOSITE OF EVERYTHING HE SAYS IN A PAST ARTICLE OR CLIP.
