Rockaway mayor dies

Rockaway Township Mayor Michael Dachisen passed away on Wednesday evening.  He was 58.

The cause of death was not immediately available.

The Republican has been mayor since 2012.  He was serving as council president when Mayor Louis Sceusi resigned to become a Superior Court Judge.  He won a 2012 special election by a 54%-30% margin, and won a full four-year term in 2015 with 62% of the vote.

Council President Jeremy Jedynak has requested that flags be flown at half-mast in Rockaway in memory of the mayor.
