Pugliese moving from print to radio

Bergen Record loses rising star to WHYY

A talented young statehouse reporter is moving from The (Bergen) Record for WHYY, South Jersey’s public radio station.

Nicholas Pugliese announced today that after nearly five years at The Record, he’s moving up to the “public radio ranks.”

“ I’m excited for the opportunity and incredibly grateful to my Record colleagues & mentors, especiallly (managing editor) Dan Sforza and (statehouse bureau chief) John McAlpin, who have taught me so much,” Pugliese wrote in a Twitter post.

Pugliese’s departure comes a less than a month before Gannett shareholders are set to vote on a takeover bid by MNG and Digital First Media.  If the sale of the chain, which includes The Record and seven other New Jersey daily newspapers,

In a Twitter post, Pugliese said The Record is seeking a replacement.
