Likely voters from New Jersey overwhelmingly want the United States Senate to reject President Donald Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
A new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday has 59% of likely voters opposed to Kavanaugh and just 35% supporting him.
Among Independents, the number is 39% to confirm and 53% to reject. Women oppose Kavanaugh by a 65%-28% margin.
Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination has become an issue in the race for New Jersey’s United States Senate seat. Incumbent Bob Menendez says he’ll vote against Kavanaugh when he reaches the Senate floor, while Republican Bob Hugin has not yet taken a position, instead saying he’ll wait for the results of an FBI probe.
