Germaine Ortiz is expected to serve as Bergen County freeholder chair when the board reorganizes next week, putting her in a slightly more visible post as she seeks re-election this fall.

Mary Amoroso will serve as vice chair.

Ortiz, Amoroso and incumbent Tom Sullivan, all Democrats, are up for re-election in 2019.

Democrats have a 7-0 majority on the board.

Ortiz was elected freeholder in 2016 after serving as a Palisades Park councilwoman and school board member.
