Minenna named Rockaway mayor

Inglesino appointed Township Attorney

Paul Minenna was named interim Mayor of Rockaway Township tonight.

A former councilman, Minenna will serve until the results of a November special election are certified.

Councilman Michael Puzio is widely expected to become the mayor in November.  He defeated Minenna for the Republican nomination earlier this week by a narrow 20-18 margin.  Democrats are not expected to nominate a candidate against Puzio, who endorsed Democrat Mikie Sherrill for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th district last month.

The vacancy was created in August by the unexpected death of 58-year-old Mayor Michael Dachisen.

Minenna replaced acting Mayor Jeremy Jedynak, who will return to his post as Council President.

The Township Council also replaced Township Attorney John Iaciofano, who had been allied with Dachisen and Puzio, and replaced him with former Mayor John Inglesino.
