Rick Mehta, the front-runner for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination, scored his sixth win today with a decisive victory at the Monmouth County Republican convention.

The former U.S. Food and Drug Administration official won with 56% of the vote and will now run on the Monmouth organization line in the GOP primary.

Mehta defeated Natalie Rivera by a 128-74 votes, with Hirsh Singh finishing third with 28 votes.

Two other candidates, Stuart Meissner and Tricia Flanagan, did not make it through the Monmouth GOP screening committee and were not on the ballot for today’s convention.
