More than 200 people attended a grassroots fundraiser for Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) in Ocean County last night.  The event was hosted by Republican National Committeewoman Virginia Hanes, Ocean County GOP vice chair Barbara Lanuto, and Assemblywomen DiAnn Gove.

Strong voter turnout in Ocean is critical for MacArthur’s re-election campaign, as well as for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin in his bid to unseat Democrat Bob Menendez.

MacArthur is seeking re-election to a third term as the congressman from New Jersey’s 3rd district.  He faces Democrat Andy Kim, a former Obama White House staffer, in the Burlington-Ocean district.

This summer, two Democratic local elected officials from Ocean County have switched parties: Toms River Councilman Dan Roderick and Brick Councilman Jim Fozman.
