As Pete Cammarano prepares to leave his post as chief of staff to Gov. Phil Murphy, his former boss and longtime mentor praised his service.
“Pete Cammarano has been a great public servant for the people of the State of New Jersey and the residents of Metuchen,” said former Gov. Richard J. Codey. “I can only wish him the best. He was great. I was very fortunate to have him.”
Cammarano served as Codey’s longtime legislative aide and was chief of staff when Codey served as governor from 2004 to 2006.
One of Codey’s State Senate colleagues, Jim Beach (D-Voorhees), today accused Cammarano of asking for help getting a legislative panel to “ease up” on him during a conversation on an unrelated piece of legislation. Cammarano has denied that occurred.
