Dawn Addiego’s party switch triggers a vacancy in the Senate Republican leadership.

The Burlington County senator had served as deputy minority whip.

The party switch leaves State Sen. Kristin Corrado (R-Totowa) as the only woman in the Senate Republican caucus.

Corrado has seen her political star rise exponentially over the last two months as the vice chair of the joint Legislative Select Oversight Committee that has been investigating the hiring of former Murphy administration official Al Alvarez.

State Sen. Declan O’Scanlon (R-Little Silver) is also a possible candidate to succeed Addiego as deputy minority whip.
