Webber files Exec, Sheriff candidates against Essex GOP

Republican congressional candidate Jay Webber has filed a slate of candidates for county executive and sheriff to run with him in Essex County for the June primary.  The Essex GOP organization has endorsed Antony Ghee for Congress in the 11th district.

Montclair Republican Municipal Chairman Roland Straten will run for county executive and Montclair Republican Club president John Van Wagner for sheriff.

Straten is making his third bid for public office.  He has run for Congress twice against Democrat Bill Pascrell, receiving 28% in 2008 and 36% in 2010.  He is the only GOP municipal chairman in Essex to back Webber.

The Essex GOP has endorsed North Caldwell Councilman John Chiaia to run for county executive and Caldwell Councilman Pasquale Capozzoli as their candidate for sheriff.  They will run on the organization line in the June primary, along with Ghee and U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin.
