Webber challenges Sherrill to ICE debate

Says debate should be in August

By David Wildstein, August 06 2018 6:12 pm

Jay Webber wants to debate Mikie Sherrill on immigration this month.

“Immigration and protecting the integrity of the Law Enforcement agents serving within ICE have become some of the most important issues in this campaign,” said Webber, the Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th district. “I talk to voters every day, and the general topic of immigration and the need for reform is very much on their minds. I think voters deserve clear and concise answers from both candidates on the issue and that is why I’m proposing to Mikie Sherrill that we hold a debate in August exclusively on the topic of immigration.”

Webber says that Sherrill supporters called for the abolition of ICE at a recent political rally, and accused the Democratic House candidate of bowing to political pressure after later claiming she doesn’t support abolishing ICE>

Webber says that a debate on the issue will help clarify Ms. Sherrill’s contradicting views.
