Union backs Sherrill for a third term in NJ-11

Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) has won the endorsement of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers (SMART), Transportation Division.

“Mikie Sherrill has been an outspoken advocate for finding ways to work together to address New Jersey’s critical infrastructure needs.  As we have seen repeatedly during her time in Congress, she backs up her words with action, and that is why she is the clear choice for reelection in the 11th District of New Jersey,” SMART-TD New Jersey state legislative director Ron Sabol said.  “Not only has Mikie been a champion for infrastructure investments like the Gateway Tunnel Project, but she continues to be an ally in our efforts to combat the increased assaults and violence against our bus and rail workers.”

The union represents over 200,000 members across the U.S.

Sherrill, a former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and assistant U.S. Attorney, flipped New Jersey’s 11th district in 2018 after 34 years of the seat being held by a Republican.  She faces former assistant Passaic County Prosecutor Paul DeGroot in the November 8 general election.
