The five Republicans on the Sussex County Board of Freeholders have endorsed Frank Pallotta for Congress in New Jersey’s 5th district.

Pallotta is one of nine Republicans seeking the nomination to challenge two-term Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff).

Freeholder Sylvia Petillo, Dawn Fantasia, Herb Yardley, Joshua Hertzberg and Anthony Fasano went as a block for Pallotta, a former investment banker.

Sussex has no organization line and makes up about 23% of the Republican primary voters in the district.

Pallotta faces Assemblyman Bob Auth (R-Old Tappan), Montvale mayor Michael Ghassali, former Cresskill councilman John McCann, Closter mayor John Glidden, teacher James Baldini, college student Jon Dalrymple, former Bergen County GOP secretary Paul Duggan, and perennial candidate Hector Castillo.

Bergen and Passaic counties will hold award their organization lines in March.
