The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, which supported the passage of the Affordable Care Act and has ties to national Democrats, has endorsed Mikie Sherrill for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th district.
“Mikie Sherrill understands and supports the critical roles that Social Security and Medicare play in the retirement and health security of our nation’s older citizens and their families,” said Max Richtman, the group’s president. “She knows, too, the particular importance of Social Security and Medicare for the independence and dignity of older women. That’s why National Committee members support excellent candidates like Mikie who understand the challenges faced by women in the workplace, as caregivers and as retirees.”
Richtman was a Democratic U.S. Senate staffer and a member of the 2016 Democratic National Convention platform committee. The organization has 4,450 members in the 11th district.
Mikie Sherrill has opposed efforts to repeal Obamacare. Obamacare cut medicare by over $700 billion.
