Rep. Mikie’s Sherrill’s Gateway to Leadership PAC will hold its second Elect More Women event on Thursday evening to raise money for Democratic women running for the New Jersey Legislature.
The event co-chairs include First Lady Tammy Murphy, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, Senate President Nicholas Scutari, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz, Democratic State Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr., and Jacqueline Jones. Five women who serve as county chairs are also event co-chairs: Marie Blistan (Cape May), Amalia Duarte (Morris), Zoe Heath (Sussex), Janice Mironov (Mercer), and Peg Schaffer (Somerset).
Sherrill, a three-term congresswoman, is a potential candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2025.
During the first six months of this year, the Sherrill PAC raised $30,000 and had $41,012 cash-on-hand as of June 30. Recipients of contributions included $5,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee ($5,000), the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee ($5,000), State Sen. Vin Gopal ($2,600), Somerset County Democratic Committee ($2,500), Essex County Democratic Committee ($2,500), Senate Democratic Majority ($5,000), Democratic State Committee ($1,000), Morris County Democratic Committee ($1,000), West New York Mayor Albio Sires ($1,000), Christine Clarke for State Senate ($500), and Alixon Collazos-Gill for Assembly ($500).
Other key names on the host committee include former Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, Blue Wave New Jersey President Marcia Marley, former Murphy Deputy Chief of Staff Joe Kelley, Assistant Executive Secretary-Treasurer for the Eastern Atlantic State Regional Council of Carpenter Anthony Abrantes, lobbyist Jonathan Boguchwal, developer Bill Colgan, mega lawyer Angelo Genova, Amazon Web Services Executive Meg Columbia-Walsh, Tiffany Bohlin, Erin Howard, Dr. Mohammad Zubair, Passaic County Democratic Vice Chair Barbara Tanis, IBEW Local 102, Steamfitters Local 476, and SMART-TED Local 60.
