While winning a second term by 29,150 votes, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) was able to bank over $3 million, putting herself on a strong financial footing as she heads into congressional redistricting in the 2022 mid-term election.

Sherrill raised $53,182 between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve and now has $3,131,721 cash-on-hand, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.

In 2020, Sherrill raised a total of $6,193,078 for her victory over Republican Rosemary Becchi in New Jersey’s 11th district.

Since becoming a candidate for Congress in 2017, Sherrill has raised a total of $14,803,359.

Her fundraising skills helped frighten her original opponent, House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen, out of his bid for re-election after 24 years in Congress.  Frelinghuysen announced his retirement not long after Sherrill announced that she had raised $1,230,669 after just seven months as a candidate.
