Serrano Glassner tells voters to hold state’s Democratic officials accountable for allegations against Menendez

Although a Fairleigh Dickinson University poll found 70% of New Jerseyans want U.S. Senator Bob Menendez to resign, the leading Republican U.S. Senate candidate wants the voters to hold him, and the state’s Democratic leaders, accountable in 2024.

“New Jerseyans have lost faith in Bob Menendez,” said Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner. “That’s understandable — I’ve been saying for some time that New Jersey deserves better than corrupt machine politicians who prioritize their own interests over the good of the people.”

Serrano Glassner has stopped short of calling on Menendez to resign, because “Gold Bar Bob’s resignation wouldn’t solve the underlying problem.”

Instead, Serrano Glassner wants Menendez to face voters in 2024, when she hopes the electorate will support her — and repudiate both Menendez and the state’s Democratic leaders, who, she says, have only enabled the senior Senator over the years.

“The Democrat establishment backed him for years, and their hands are as dirty as his,” Serrano Glassner said. “The only way to hold the corrupt political establishment accountable is to repudiate Menendez directly at the ballot box and make his cronies cringe as they watch the people pass verdict on everything that’s wrong with politics as usual.”

Once the federal indictment against Menendez was unsealed in September, he essentially lost all support from the state’s Democratic Party.

Since launching her campaign, Serrano Glassner has picked up endorsements from Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-Westfield) and many GOP leaders from her native Morris County.

Once a President George W. Bush administration member and the wife of a top advisor to Donald Trump, Serrano Glassner emerged as the front-runner for the GOP U.S. Senate nomination.

But the race is not yet set in stone: Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) is also exploring a Senate run.
