Point Pleasant mayor backs Gibbs

Ocean GOP convention is Wednesday night

Point Pleasant Borough mayor Robert Sabosik has endorsed Kate Gibbs for the GOP House nomination to take on Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) in New Jersey’s 3rd district.

“As a mayor of a shore town, I know Kate will fight for this district. She is focused on achieving a long-term extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and a hard cap on rate increases,” Sabosik said.  “This is so important to our residents’ quality of life and growth in our community. Kate is a strong leader and her proven abilities will help continue to grow our economy and continue to create union jobs and put America first.

Ocean County Republicans will award their organization line at a convention tomorrow night.

Gibbs is the favorite to win after scoring a victory at the Ocean GOP screening committee vote last month.  Conventions typically – but not always – mirror the screening committee decision.

She faces David Richter, the former CEO of one of the nation’s largest construction companies.

Also in the race: Barnegat mayor John Novak and former Hainesport mayor Tony Porto.
