The New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association (NJSPBA) has endorsed Democratic Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff for re-election to a second term from New Jersey’s 5th district.

Patrick Colligan, the state NJSBA president, said that Gottheimer “has really proven to be a fierce, loyal advocate for law enforcement, fire (fighters) and all first responders,” said Colligan.

“Most recently, something that touches this community very dearly is the school bus legislation for the harnesses. How have we gone this long without three-point harnesses for the children that transit this state every day?” Colligan said.  “Josh’s advocacy for first responders does not just touch this district, he touches officers throughout this country.”

Colligan cited Gottheimer’s willingness to cross party lines, and his record fighting lone wolf homegrown terror that has been inspired by ISIS.
