The National Federation of Independent Businesses, the country’s primary small business advocacy organization, today announced their endorsement of former Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean Jr. (R-Westfield) in his 7th congressional district race against Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes).
“We are proud to endorse Tom Kean, Jr. today,” NFIB New Jersey state director Eileen Kean said in a statement. “He had a strong pro-small business voting record during his time in the New Jersey Legislature and has been a reliable voice for New Jersey’s small businesses. We are confident Tom Kean, Jr. will remain an ally of small businesses in Congress.”
The NFIB previously endorsed Kean during his first race for Congress in 2020; Kean ended up losing that race to Malinowski by just one percentage point.
This time around, Kean is considered the favorite, due in large part to the redrawn congressional map that shifted the 7th district several points towards Republicans. Kean has worked to tie Malinowski to unpopular President Joe Biden, and Malinowski is also under scrutiny from the House Ethics Committee over his failure to disclose certain stock trades.
