The New Jersey Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Republican Curtis Bashaw for the U.S. Senate and three incumbent House members from each party for re-election.
The union is backing Democrats Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff), Donald Norcross (D-Camden), and Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), and Republicans Tom Kean, Jr. (R-Westfield), Christopher Smith (R-Manchester), and Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis).
The NJFOP also endorsed Republican newcomer Scott Fegler, a wholesale cheese, charcuterie, deli meat, grocery, and seafood products importer, for Congress in New Jersey’s 6th district. Fegler is challenging eighteen-term Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-Long Branch).
Bashaw faces Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) for the seat held for nearly nineteen years by Democrat Bob Menendez until his resignation following a conviction on federal corruption charges.
Another law enforcement union, the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association, endorsed Pallone in July. The PBA also supports Bashaw, Van Drew, Smith, Gottheimer, and Kean.
The State Troopers Fraternal Association endorsed Bashaw, Norcross, Van Drew, Smith, Gottheimer, Pallone, Kean, and Sherrill, as well as Rep. Rob Menendez (D-Jersey City). They are backing Assemblyman Herb Conaway, Jr. (D-Delran) and State Sen. Nellie Pou (D-North Haledon) for open House seats in the 3rd and 9th districts, respectively.
The troopers’ union took no position in the races involving Reps. LaMonica McIver (D-Newark) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing).
