A group of more than 400 Latino pastors and ministers endorsed Rep. Albio Sires (D-West New York) and Hudson County’s slate of party-backed candidates Friday.
“Hudson County is fortunate to have a leader like Congressman Sires, who is not only a true advocate for the best interests of all residents, but a fighter for access to health care, educational equity, social justice, women’s equality, job creation and most recently, passing the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act,” said Rev. Bolivar Flores. “At a time of unprecedented assaults, Congressman Sires consistently advocates to maintain the American Dream, support DACA recipients, pass comprehensive immigration reform, and keep families together.”
Flores is vice president of the New Jersey Coalition of Latino Pastors and Ministers
The NJCLPM also endorsed Freeholders Anthony Vainieri, Kenny Kopacz, Bill O’Dea, Jerry Walker, Anthony Romano, Caridad Rodriguez and Albert Cifelli.
They’re also backing Freeholder Fanny Cedeno and Yraida Apointe-Lipski.
“These public servants have delivered on a progressive agenda throughout their tenure on the Freeholder Board. One that protects the most vulnerable, creates opportunities for working families, helps local businesses thrive, revitalizes our infrastructure by making major investments, improves our parks and made bold and strategic decisions to help us get through the COVID-19 crisis,” NJCLPM President Rev. Raul Ruiz said. “Also, their experienced leadership will help families and communities get through these critically challenging times.”
