Mikie Sherrill slams Trump administration on redacted SALT report

Ways & Means makes full report available anyway

Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) ripped the Trump administration for issuing a report on the state and local tax deductions and charitable contributes that is heavily redacted.

House Ways and Means Committee chairman Richard Neal (D-Massachusetts) has decided to make the full report from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s inspector general for tax administration available to the public.

“This is yet another attack on New Jersey taxpayers, and an effort to block the public from understanding the lengths the administration will go to punish our state,” said Sherrill. “To have Treasury Secretary Mnuchin direct the IRS to continue targeting states like New Jersey is unacceptable. I will continue to fight for tax fairness and to end the SALT deduction cap that amounts to double taxation on New Jerseyans.”

  1. Why don’t you take it up with your good pal Phil Murphy who will tax anything. Even rain water.

  2. Because Trump and Mnuchin did it, aided and abeted by the complicit Republican party. Srent you as concerned a tax payer as you claim to be a voter?
