The front runner for the Democratic congressional nomination in the 7th district today praised a onetime rival who suspended her campaign today.
“I am grateful to Linda Weber for the dedication and passion she brought to this race,” said Tom Malinowski. “Voters in the 7th district know that this is the year to defeat Leonard Lance, and that is due in no small part to Linda’s spirited campaign, strong advocacy for women’s representation, and ardent opposition to Donald Trump. She has made me a better candidate and it is my sincere hope that she will continue to champion the issues that brought her into this race.”
Malinowski, a former Assistant U.S. Secretary of State during the Obama administration, says he is committed to “doing the hard work of being worthy of her supporters, who demonstrated such inspiring loyalty to their candidate.”
“We share the same values and must be a unified party to win in November. We will need the support, guidance, and expertise of all those who have seen Linda through the last year of her campaign. I look forward to our dialogues over the next weeks and months and am grateful to have the opportunity to build a unified team, Malinowski said. “There is nothing more important than defeating Leonard Lance, and if we keep our sights on that goal I have no doubt we will accomplish it together.”
