Everytown for Gun Safety, one of the nation’s leading gun safety advocacy groups, has endorsed Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) for re-election in New Jersey’s 5th district.
“We’re proud to support Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a strong leader in the fight to keep our communities and schools safe from gun violence and an important member of the gun sense majority in Congress,” said Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts. “Voters across the country are demanding action on this issue, and our grassroots volunteers are fully committed to re-electing Rep. Gottheimer and other gun sense champions fighting to end gun violence.”
Support from the prestigious group, which praised Gottheimer’s 3 ½ year record on fighting gun violence, could help him in the July 7 Democratic primary, where he faces Glen Rock Councilwoman Arati Kreibich.
Everytown for Gun Safety has over six million members nationally.
“I stand with all Americans who are deeply frustrated by the lack of action in Washington when real, practical solutions exist to save lives and make our schools, homes, and communities safer,” said Gottheimer. “Common sense gun safety shouldn’t be a partisan issue – it’s long overdue for Congress to come together across party lines to make solving this crisis a top priority.”
