Lonegan: What is McCann hiding?

GOP candidate criticizes McCann for not filing financial disclosure

Republican congressional candidate John McCann has still not filed his personal financial disclosure, according to a search of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives website.  The report was due on May 6.

McCann told the New Jersey Globe earlier this week that he was working on it.  He said the delay was due to the illness of his accountant.

“Wow, I thought legitimate candidates were supposed to file these reports like I did last year and this year,” said former Bogota mayor Steve Lonegan, McCann’s opponent in the Republican primary in New Jersey’s 5th district.  “I wonder what he is hiding?

McCann has not yet responded to a 1:07 PM call seeking comment.

The failure to file legally-mandated financial disclosures has already become an issue in the 2nd district House race, where Republican Hirsh Singh is also more than a week late.  The campaigns of Democrat Jeff Van Drew and fellow Republican Sam Fiocchi have already criticized Singh for the delay.
