Arati Kreibich conceded defeat in her bid to oust two-term Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) in the Democratic primary.
“We’ve always known this would be a tough fight, and last night it became clear that we came up short,” Kreibich said. “Josh Gottheimer will be our Democratic nominee, and I intend to vote for him and Democrats up and down the ballot in November. Trump and the GOP must be defeated.”
Gottheimer defeated Kreibich by a massive margin. He has a lead of nearly 14,000 votes, 73.5% to 26.5%.
Kreibich said she had no regrets about what getting involved in a long-shot bid.
“This fight is more important than ever—we’ve seen time and time again the damage done to immigrants, women, and people of color when our party is undermined by conservative forces,” she said. “That’s why we must elect real Democrats who go to battle for working families rather than the machine.”
