Amy Kennedy will get some help from her famous political family tonight when Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy III (D-Massachusetts) appears on her Facebook Live series tonight to talk about COVID-19 and mental health issues.

Kennedy’s has developed her “Connecting South Jersey Community” series to introduce herself to voters at a time when the coronavirus pandemic has ended in-person campaigning.

Joe Kennedy, a four-term congressman, is challenging incumbent Edward Markey in the September 1 Democratic U.S. Senate primary.  A recent Emerson College poll has Kennedy leading Markey by sixteen points, 58%-42%.

Amy Kennedy is seeking the Democratic nomination to take on party-switching Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) in New Jersey’s second district.  She is the wife of former Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy (D-Rhode Island).

Patrick Kennedy is Ted Kennedy’s son and Joe Kennedy is the grandson of Robert F. Kennedy, the brother of Ted and President John F. Kennedy.  Joe Kennedy’s father, former Rep. Joseph Kennedy II (D-Massachusetts), is Patrick Kennedy’s first cousin.

Joe Kennedy has raised $245,189 from New Jersey donors, according to his first quarter fundraising report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

He was in New Jersey in March to raise money for his Senate bid.  He attended an event headed by Senate Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch).

Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin McCabe, powerbroker Maggie Moran, Assemblyman Tom Giblin, State Sen. Linda Greenstein (D-Plainsboro) and Essex County Clerk Christopher Durkin were the hosts of the fundraiser.
