Gibbs gains support with South Toms River GOP

Three South Toms River Republican leaders have endorsed Kate Gibbs for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd district.

Councilmen Tom Rolzhausen and Sandy Ross and Republican Club president Bill Gleason have signed on in support of Gibbs, a labor leader and former Burlington County freeholder director.

Gibbs won an endorsement from the Ocean County GOP screening committee and is now the favorite to win the organization line at the county’s March 4 convention.

Gibbs faces former Hill International CEO David Richter, Barnegat mayor John Novak and former Hainesport mayor Tony Porto for the chance to take on freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) in a Republican-leaning House district.

“As a member of (IUOE) Local 68 and as a sitting councilman, I know first-hand what it’s like to put yourself out there and run for public office,” said Rolzhausen. “I couldn’t be prouder of Kate and for all her accomplishments as an elected official and a lead engineer in the Operating Engineers Union.”
