Forum for NJ-4 Democratic candidates on Sunday

The New Jersey Globe will host a forum for the three Democratic candidates seeking to challenge Rep. Christopher Smith in New Jersey’s 4th district on Sunday, July 5 at 9:15 PM.

All three candidates – David Applefield, Christine Conforti and Stephanie Schmid – have agreed to participate.

You can watch on Zoom, Facebook Live or YouTube.  Check back later for more details.

This is not a debate.  It’s discussion about Tuesday’s race to nominate a candidate against a 20-term incumbent.

New Jersey Globe editor David Wildstein will lead the discussion.

The coronavirus pandemic has, among many other things, severely limited the ability for voters to see candidates together in one place as they consider who to support in the race.

While many campaigns have found alternative ways of speaking directly to voters online, the ability to watch how candidates interact with their opponents is an important component to helping voters make a choice.

This is especially true in this primary election, where Democrats can use opportunities like this to determine who might be best to take on an incumbent in the general election.
