Former United Nations staffer Christine Conforti has raised $7,700 in her bid to challenge Rep. Christopher Smith (R-Hamilton), putting her far behind the rest of the Democratic field.
Conforti brought in $3,100 during the 4th quarter of 2019 and has $4,098 cash-on-hand.
Her primary opponents have more.
Stephanie Schmid, a former U.S. Department of State official, has $88,117 cash-on-hand after $202,256 since entering the race last August. Former journalist David Applefield has raised $212,104 – most of it from a personal loan – and has $137,141 in the bank.
Smith, who is seeking re-election to a 21st term in New Jersey’s 4th district, has a huge cash lead.
He has raised $729,885, including $159,066 in the last three months of the year, and has $514,816 cash-on-hand.
