The DCCC launched a digital ad lauding Rep. Andy Kim’s vote on a resolution urging the Justice Department to reconsider a suit seeking to strike down the entirety of the affordable care act.
“People are sick and tired of having their health care threatened by politicians in Washington. Today’s vote sends an unequivocal message that people with pre-existing conditions should never have their health care put at risk,” Kim said. “Members of Congress, from both parties, should come together to protect people with pre-existing conditions and focus on making health care more affordable for everyone.”
The Justice Department in a Monday filing said it would not seek a reversal to any part of a decision made by a federal judge in Texas to strike down the entirety of the Affordable Care Act, including popular provisions like protection for pre-existing conditions.
The case is currently before a federal appeals court.
The resolution passed Wednesday does not have any legal effect and only urges the Justice Department to reconsider its stance on the ACA.
