Casha still in 11th district House race

GOP candidate set to speak with Becchi again on Tuesday

Former Kinnelon councilman Larry Casha remains in the race for the Republican congressional nomination in the 11th district after a face-to-face meeting with Rosemary Becchi this morning.

“We’re resurrecting the conversation tomorrow,” Casha told the New Jersey Globe.  “We’re putting our egos in check.”

Casha looked like the GOP nominee on Friday morning, when Republican county chairs from Morris, Essex, Passaic and Sussex indicated their willingness to support him.

That fell apart a few hours later when Becchi began exploring a switch from challenging Rep. Tom Malinowski in the 7th district to Mikie Sherrill in the 11th.

Becchi was facing an up-hill GOP primary battle against Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean, Jr., who appears on the verge of securing organization lines in Union, Hunterdon, Somerset and Essex counties in his bid to unseat Malinowski.

Last night, it appeared as though Casha was ready to fold.  Now he’s showing his teeth, at least a little bit.

  1. Excellent. Hope Larry stays in the race. Larry Casha is an honest Republican, unlike Becchi and her band of rogues.
