Building trades back Pascrell

The New Jersey State Building and Construction Trades Council endorsed Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson) Monday.

“Our members have always been able to count on Bill Pascrell for his unfailing support,” said Bill Mullen, the union’s president. “No one is stronger on providing tax fairness for New Jersey families and defeating trade agreements that cost American jobs. The working men and women of New Jersey need Bill in Washington because he is our toughest fighter for a fair wage, the right to organize, and greater federal investment in our roads, bridges and rails. The New Jersey Building Trades enthusiastically support Rep. Pascrell’s campaign.”

Pascrell faces primary challenges from Alp Basaran, Zina Spezakis and Blake Michael.

The district is safely Democratic.

“The working men and women built the middle class and built the modern America. I am delighted to receive the support of Bill Mullen and the New Jersey Building Trades whose members will build our path to the future,” Pascrell said. “America’s greatest period of prosperity came about because strong unions gave working Americans life-saving protections, a fair share for their labors, and an equal piece of the economic pie. There is zero question that the 40-year assault against organized labor rights has played a decisive role in the loss of opportunity for millions of our workers.”
