Day Two of U.S. Senator Cory Booker’s annual Jersey Summer Road Trip will take him to Hudson, Monmouth and Sussex counties on Saturday.

Booker will march in the Jersey City Pride Parade, along with Rep.Rob Menendez and Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop.  He’ll visit a small, family-owned ice cream store in Asbury Park and will meet with local farmers at the Sparta Farmers Market.

Every summer, Booker mounts an aggressive tour of the state, visiting all 21 counties over seven days.  He’s been doing this since his election to the Senate in 2013.

On Friday, Booker went to Paramus to announce legislation to combat the fentanyl crisis, visited Warren County Community College to talk about a pilot program to ensure farm profitability and sustainability that was funded by a direct appropriation he helped secure, and met with community leaders in Elizabeth to discuss a program funded by the Inflation Reduction Act to enhance air quality in underserved communities.

“For environmental justice communities like the one I visited in Elizabeth today, poor air quality is a routine occurrence,” Booker said.  “As people here bear the brunt of the cumulative impacts of air pollution from diesel emissions and, more recently, the Canadian wildfires, these newly installed air quality monitors will be essential to making sure residents can make informed decisions about their health and well-being.”

Booker will end the Summer Road Trip in his hometown of Newark, where he served as mayor from 2006 to 2013, on August 31 at a forum on strategies to combat community violence with the New Jersey Urban Mayors Association.
