Two more labor unions have endorsed Donald Payne for re-election to his 10th district seat, with the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 819 and the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers Local 194 signing on in support of the six-term congressman from New Jersey.

Payne has had no bumps in the road as he collects union endorsements for a Democratic primary he’s taking seriously.

“He knows firsthand the struggles of New Jersey’s blue collar workers and has proven to be a true champion for working people in Washington,” said IFPTE Local 194 President Barry Kushnir.  “We are confident that he will continue to show up to fight for labor rights and look forward to working with him to deliver for the people of New Jersey.”

ATU NJ State Council Chairman Orlando Riley pointed to Payne’s co-sponsorship of the PROP Act, which would ease the path to union membership.

“Congressman Payne’s life of public service is a testament to his commitment to his community, the state of New Jersey, and our country,” Riley said.  “He’s not afraid to take on hard political fights on behalf of working people, and for that, the ATU is proud to endorse him.”

Payne said the union support is a result of  work he’s done as a senior member of the House Transportation Committee to advance public transportation projects for New Jersey.
